Why is it good to work with UBM, what makes ING and UBM a good match?

Tibor Zsilák: UBM is a rapidly growing agricultural company listed on the Budapest Stock Exchange, which now has a direct presence in six countries in Central and Western Europe. The geographical coverage of UBM and ING is well aligned, and the resulting synergies can therefore be mutually exploited. We can also effectively support each other in our sustainability efforts, as we have a strategy with similar foundations in that area. Sustainability is first and foremost about balance, which is a priority for both parties.

Beyond a certain point business logic is not enough, supportive human relations are essential, because at the end of the day, all that matters is that communication drives the other party forward. Both ING and UBM have a key interest in that. People on the other side are the main priority, among other things, that is the basis of good business. Together, we create the right structures and processes, and this would be impossible without constructive dialogue.

When did you feel that UBM presented you with a challenge that you don’t or rarely experience elsewhere?

Tibor Zsilák: The UBM Group’s ever-growing regional presence requires cross-country cooperation from ING colleagues as well, in order to be able to provide the right banking products and support expansion. The introduction of UBM’s activities and strategy within ING has been a particular challenge for the Hungarian office. It is good that UBM and ING inspire each other, and at ING we reciprocate this trust with new, tailor-made solutions. We always welcome challenges like these, as they provide opportunities for continuous development and give us new experiences. We work as a good team.
