Show me where you work
This year we also decided to join the #mutiholdolgozol (‘show me where you work’) initiative.
Six volunteer colleagues from UBM’s Pilisvörösvár office agreed to organise a day when the children of the colleagues could come in for a day to learn where their parents work and what they are doing. We did our best to make the day an experience for them:
- We sent them invitations and, to get them in the mood, we asked them to send in drawings, which we put on display in the office for the day.
- The night before, we set up a UBM children’s room on the 4th floor, which was filled with the excited chats of 26 children the following morning. After a little get-to-know-you game, each team became the carer of a pet and the children tried to feed their animals in a morning-long adventure game with stations. To do that, they visited different departments and playfully bought grain, concluded contracts, arranged storage space, applied for credit, mixed feed based on recipes and transported it, designed the packaging of the feed, learned about expenses and income in a playful quiz, conjured up invoices and even looked for new colleagues for the busy work. This gave them a playful insight into the work of each department. At the end of the process, each team managed to put together its own puzzle with a picture of its satisfied, well-fed animal.
- The morning game was interrupted by morning snacks and a 10-minute spinal exercise, which is usual at UBM, and then each group was given their well-deserved “profit”: gems to spend on the UBM marketplace after lunch.
- In the afternoon, they were free to participate in two creative activities: planting wheat in pots with their own portraits on them or making pictures and frames from seeds.
- The CEO’s office also opened up: they could sit in the CEO’s chair and even hold the CEO’s samurai sword.
- The brave ones could also test themselves at a job interview.
- The day ended outdoors on the nearby playground, where we had a (feed) sack race.
It was a joy to see the sparkling eyes and hear the contented laughter, while parents and colleagues could carry on with their daily work in peace, occasionally glancing up at the groups of children who popped up.
We would like to share a few pictures.
